The
Hampton Roads Naval Museum is an official museum of the United States Navy and reports to the Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington, D.C. The museum is dedicated to the study of the naval history of the Hampton Roads region.


The museum was first established at Pennsylvania House on Naval Station Norfolk in 1979. In 1994, the museum moved to downtown Norfolk and is today located on the second floor of the Nauticus building, next to the museum ship Wisconsin. It is always free to visit the Hampton Roads Naval Museum.
